While you may enjoy the best, you also need to stay strong through the worst, says actress Seema Kapoor, talking about social media. The actress, who is known for her projects Bidaai, Nagin, Hum Saath Aath Hain, Razia, and was last seen in Udaariyaan, says that she doesn't get affected by trolling.
“Social media has become a household platform...everyone is trying their best to showcase their aptitudes and talent. It's a boon for many, even outside our industry, no wonder so many influencers and creators are given a cakewalk into reality shows. The correct attitude is the only criterion to take them to places, whereas the rowdy ones will eventually face their bane. Many cross limits for so but eventually they hamper their image and the security of their very own. If the followers and views increase naturally to your credit, nothing like it. It's a matter of self-respect but one must also be equipped to handle the trollers and stalkers in a dignified way. I prefer to handle it with a distance. Neither do I get too pally nor very aggressive. If anyone tries to get over-familiar or mean, I draw a line there. They, then, don't exist for me and my social media community,” she says.
Talking about how the platform has helped her, she says, “This media has helped me in the sense that I've received so much love and admiration from my followers. What I like the most about it is that you have a free hand to express yourself, you are not dependent on any outsiders’ biased opinions and you can also correct them with your truth and reality through it. You can also post whatever you are comfortable with and inform people of your convictions.”
She says that she has never been jealous of how other people are succeeding on social media and concentrates on her work. “Anyone's success or popularity for that matter makes me happy since I've never known the emotion of jealousy for others...when even the devil is given his due then these are humans & their popularity on social media is credible,” she says.
Views are often based on an algorithm that keeps changing, however, the actress says that she doesn’t get bothered by this. “Nothing is the same always, change is the law of nature, and one shouldn't get so affected by the highs and lows. I just do my best and leave the rest to God and destiny. If you are intelligent enough to gauge the reasons for your downfall or success...move in accordance to uplift it for your good and relax!” she says.
Social media is given a lot of importance even while casting. Talking about the same, she says, “If people consider it also for casting, and if the outcome is beneficial, then why not? But majorly, a good actor will always be the best option, however high or low, his views or likes are. Only the foolish ones will judge the actor with such frivolity.”
