Shamita Shetty says she would “never” go back to ‘Bigg Boss’

Shamita Shetty is a popular name in the field of entertainment. The talented actress and interior designer who made her acting debut with YRF’s ‘ Mohabbatein ‘ in 2000 has come a long way with many ups and downs in her career trajectory. In addition to her acting career, Shamita is also a successful interior designer and has been recognized for her design projects. The ‘Zeher’ actress recently created a lot of buzz with her stint in ‘ Bigg Boss 15 .’

Now, Shamita is all set to feature in a film titled ‘ The Tenant ‘ directed by Sushrut Jain . In an exclusive conversation with a leading website, Shamita Shetty talked about’ The Tenant,’ ‘marriage,’ ‘depression’ and much more.

When asked about her experience of working on ‘The Tenant,’ Shamita said, “It was a wonderful experience, I loved the story. The character Meera is so strong.” The ‘Fareb’ actress further added, “One of the reasons for me doing this film is actually the subject. It’s a story that needs to be told. In many ways, this film reflects the society we live in and how they perceive women.” She also commented that “women have to face constant judgments, sexism, patriarchy, lack of privacy. It doesn’t matter how successful a woman is, if she is single, especially after a certain age, there is a problem. It’s something that I think I could relate to. That is one of the reasons I chose to do this film.”

Shamita Shetty’s stint in the ‘ Bigg Boss 15’ house was talked about a lot. Speaking on her journey in the controversial show, the actress said, “Bigg Boss for somebody like me was an extremely difficult journey because firstly, I am a very private person. It takes me a while to be okay with people around me 24*7. Having said that, the biggest thing that happened to me was I understood myself better as a human being.”

However, Shamita also claimed that her stay in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house helped her understand her strength. She added, “I discovered my own strengths in that house because that house pushes you to the limit. I would not ever want to go back and relive those moments but it definitely made me a stronger person.”

The actress also has often opened up in the media about her anxiety issues and depression. Talking about the same, Shamita said, “Depression is something, yes, I have been through a very dark phase in my life. Anxiety is a problem that I deal with. There are certain triggers that kind of make me anxious.”

However, the actress feels that “sometimes, we are so busy chasing our dreams or what we want or should have that we don’t really pay attention to that little voice inside that is telling us that there is something wrong. We kind of tend to lose ourselves sometimes.” Hence, people need to “acknowledge that there is a problem and then seek help because nobody around you can make you get that help. You have to want to help yourself. ”

OTT platforms have brought in a new wave in the entertainment industry. Speaking on the rise of OTT platforms and the opportunities that they provide, Shamita Shetty said, “With different OTT platforms, there are films being made, more web series being made, and more opportunities for actors out there. They are really experimenting with their films, their subjects, and their characters. So, I think it’s an exciting time for actors because there is a lot more to choose from.”

Meanwhile, ‘ The Tenant’ featuring Shamita Shetty a single woman who faces patriarchy, judgments, and whatnot, has released on February 10, 2023.
