Somy Ali shares a throwback from Yaar Gaddar, calls her co-actors 'extremely decent gentlemen'
She captioned the video, “So this throwback is personal for many reasons, which I will not share in this forum, but the movie's director, Mr. Umesh Mehra, was one of the most decent men I have worked with and, of course, a brilliant director.
Former Bollywood actress Somy Ali, who currently runs the NGO No More Tears in Miami, Florida, took to her Instagram handle to share a throwback video from her 1994 movie Yaar Gaddar. The movie also featured Mithun Chakraborty, Saif Ali Khan, Gulshan Grover, and Prem Chopra. Interestingly, her character was first offered to veteran actress Rekha, and Somy says she was over the moon when she learned that.

My co-stars, Mithunda, Saif, Gulshan, and others, were all wonderful to be on set with.”
She continued, “One thing that still sticks with me is that Rekha ji was supposed to play my role. I was over the moon once I learned that, and ecstatic doesn't cut it in terms of how I felt. She's the real queen and the most beautiful woman for me in the whole world. Hence, my giddiness is totally justified. As for Mithunda, whom I worked with a great deal, she was a mentor and always kind. The strangest part is that all the actors who played villains I worked with were the nicest people in real life. Be it Prem Uncle or Gulshan, All are extremely decent gentlemen.

Somy was just 16 when she came to Mumbai to pursue her acting dreams. She made her debut in 1993 with Krishan Avatar and has been a part of quite a few popular movies. Somy is now settled in the USA, and her NGO No More Tears recently achieved a big milestone of rescuing 50,000 victims of all genders from abuse and trafficking.
