Ajay Devgan, Sidharth Malhotra, and Rakul Preet’s upcoming film ‘Thank God’ is grabbing eyeballs for all controversial reasons. A few days ago, a lawyer in Uttar Pradesh filed a case against director Indra Kumar and the actors of the film alleging that the trailer of the film mocks and hurt religious sentiments. Now, Madhya Pradesh minister Vishwas Sarang has demanded a ban on ‘Thank God’ release.

As per the latest reports, Vishwas Sarang, the higher education minister in Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s cabinet has written a letter to Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur seeking a ban on the film. In his letter, the minister claimed that Chitragupta, who is regarded as the God of the Kayastha community, has been portrayed with half-nude women in the film. Vishwas also alleged that derogatory language and inappropriate depictions of Hindu Gods have been used in the movie.

As reported by News 18, the BJP Minister’s letter read, “In a fresh such incident, Ajay Devgan starring in the movie – ‘Thank God’, Chitragupt, who is considered as the God of Kayastha community, has been portrayed with half-nude women and derogatory language has been used in the movie. It has hurt the sentiments of the people of Kayastha community across the country and therefore, this movie should be banned.”

Vishwas Sarang, who also belongs to the Kayastha community, also slammed Bollywood movies saying that a trend has been going on in Hindi cinema to showcase Gods and Goddess in the wrong manner. Meanwhile, ‘Thank God’ is slated to hit the theatres on October 25 this year. The family entertainer has been facing flak since its trailer was dropped on social media.
